Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 29, 2026. This policy explains what personal data SureRento collects and how we use it.
1. Who we are
SureRento Uganda Ltd operates the SureRento website and mobile app (the "Platform"). We are a Ugandan company registered in Kampala. You can contact us at support@surerento.com.
2. What data we collect
- Account data: full name, phone number, account type (seeker / landlord / caretaker).
- Verification data (landlords): National ID number, ID scan, live selfie photo. Used solely to verify identity and are reviewed by our team only.
- Property & listing data: property address, photos, 360° tours, unit specifications, neighbourhood context you provide.
- Transaction data: Mobile Money reference numbers, unlock and package payment records. We do not store card numbers.
- Usage data: pages viewed, searches performed, units unlocked. Used to improve the platform.
- Reviews: text and ratings you submit, tied to your account.
3. How we use your data
- To provide and improve the Platform.
- To verify landlord identities and listing authenticity.
- To process payments via MTN and Airtel Mobile Money APIs.
- To send transactional notifications (booking confirmations, review alerts).
- To detect and prevent fraud and abuse.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.
4. Data sharing
When a seeker pays to unlock a unit, the landlord's name and phone number are shared with that seeker only. Landlord contact details are never publicly visible without an unlock payment.
We share data with service providers only as necessary to operate the platform (e.g., payment processors). All providers are contractually required to protect your data.
5. Data retention
Account data is retained as long as your account is active. You may request deletion by contacting us. Verification documents are deleted within 90 days of account closure. Transaction records are retained for 7 years for legal compliance.
6. Your rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing support@surerento.com. We will respond within 14 days.
7. Security
Passwords are hashed. Sessions use secure tokens. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Verification documents are stored in restricted-access storage.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be communicated via the app and via email to registered users. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance.
